About Tijana

I have recently relocated to London from Australia after having a rich teaching and performing career there.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Harp from the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, Serbia; a Master's degree in Harp from the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade, Serbia and a Master's degree in Harp from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.

During my freelance career in Australia, I have performed extensively as a solo, orchestral and chamber musician.
While based in Melbourne, I performed regularly with Orchestra Victoria and performed in their collaborations with the Tokyo ballet, The Australian Ballet, Victorian Opera, etc. as well as performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO).
While living in Brisbane, I had performed regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) in many of their symphonic concerts, as well as their collaborations with the Royal Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, La Scala Ballet and Queensland Ballet.
I have also performed as Principal Harpist with the Opera Australia Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House and West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO).

I love to teach and have always maintained a busy teaching studio alongside my performing career.

About the lesson

Teaching the harp has always been a great passion of mine and I teach students of all ages and levels - from 5 to 95, beginners to postgraduate students. I’ve even taught TwoSet Violin to play the harp!
I am a patient and understanding teacher and I customise my teaching based on individual student needs.

I can prepare you for ABRSM and Trinity exams, competitions or just for the fun and enjoyment of learning. I can teach both classical and contemporary (pop, jazz, cinematic, etc.) pieces as well as music theory, which I incorporate into harp lessons.

I am happy to take on students who have never played an instrument before, but am just as comfortable and experienced at teaching students who would like to change their technique or learn a more comfortable way of playing that can facilitate what they want to play on the harp.

Lessons can be in person at your home or my home-studio in Maida Vale or online.
My students have won competitions and scholarships, were successful in auditions for youth orchestras and have also performed as part of State Honours Ensemble Programs (SHEPs).

I have been teaching privately and in schools for over a decade and have taught at the Queensland Conservatorium as part of their Open Conservatorium program.
I was president of the Harp Society of Queensland and led the HSQ Harp Ensemble.

I do not offer the first lesson for free, but am happy to have a shorter lesson initially to see if we're a good student/teacher fit.

If the lessons are at my home-studio, you would be welcome to use my lever harp for lessons, so that you didn't have to bring yours.

Adult and child students welcome during term time or holidays.
