About Kathleen
As a public school teacher specializing in math intervention, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw upon. With two Master's degrees from prestigious institutions like UCLA and Calstate LA, I am well-equipped to provide top-notch instruction to my students. Over the years, I have received extensive training in various types of math instruction, including Math Recovery, Building Fact Fluency, and Cognitively Guided Instruction. In addition to working directly with students, I also provide professional development and train teachers on best mathematical practices in the classroom. My passion for math intervention is evident in my master's thesis at UCLA, which focused on helping Title 1 students in elementary grade levels.

A mathematical mindset means having a growth mindset around math. My tutoring program focuses on developing a robust mathematical mindset for students in grades K-5. Through my program, your child will learn number fluency, structuring numbers, and early arithmetic concepts. Additionally, I will help your child develop problem-solving skills through number stories, cognitively guided instruction (CGI), and constructing viable mathematical arguments. As a bonus, I also offer math workshops for parents to help them better understand their child's math curriculum.
