About Ian
I was taught photography by an uncle who was a photographer. I hold the ARPS distinction with the Royal Photographic Society (of which I am a member). Throughout the 1970s and 80s, I was a lecturer in ecology/environmental biology. Technical photography was an essential research and teaching tool. Following a career break in the 90s, my photographic style is very much focused on documentary, including the use of still and video footage in audio-visual documentary presentations.

My approach is to focus on individual needs, so the first free online consultation is used to identify your specific learning goals and agree a programme of learning based on a mix of online and face-to-face coaching sessions, each targeting specific learning goals. A coaching session typically lasts one hour and is structured around (a) a review of tasks set in the previous session with - from session 2 onwards (b) focus on the next learning goal (c) setting a task/project to reinforce learning.
