About John
What would it feel like to sing with total confidence—not just in your voice, but in who you are? That’s the journey I’ve guided my students through for over 6 years, using a vocal coaching approach that’s as personal as it is practical. I work with singers from middle school to college, helping them build healthy technique, develop emotional depth, and most importantly, find a connection to their voice that feels empowering. We start by building a strong technical base: breath management, tone clarity, pitch stability, and resonance.
Once that foundation is solid, we expand into the creative and interpretive side of singing. I help students explore song meaning, lyrical storytelling, and character work across genres—from indie pop to Broadway, R&B to folk. I also use a variety of tools to support practice and progression, including real-time pitch visualisers, guided vocal warm-ups, and custom recording assignments. Many of my students benefit from “mirror week,” where we focus on self-awareness, posture, and non-verbal expression while singing. Others love our genre spotlight weeks, where we explore different vocal styles and techniques unique to each. I believe lessons should feel like a collaboration, not a lecture. My space is one where curiosity is encouraged and mistakes are seen as stepping stones. I also teach vocal health strategies in every session, covering topics like warming up efficiently, maintaining stamina, and navigating voice changes or overuse. Whether your goal is to land a solo, ace an audition, or simply feel proud of your sound, I’m here to support that dream with empathy and expert guidance. At the end of the day, it’s not just about learning to sing well—it’s about learning to sing as you.

Singing is a holistic journey that intertwines the physical mechanics of the voice with the emotional landscape and cultural narratives that give music its depth and meaning. My teaching philosophy is grounded in fostering Awareness, Expression, Respect, and Persistence in every student. Awareness involves nurturing mindful breath control, posture, and vocal resonance through tailored exercises that encourage ease and sustainability, helping singers develop a strong, healthy vocal foundation.
Expression is cultivated by engaging students with the emotional and textual content of their repertoire, encouraging imaginative interpretation through techniques such as improvisation, storytelling, and dramatic exploration to connect authentically with their audience. Respect encompasses an appreciation for the diverse cultural origins of music, inviting students to explore a broad spectrum of repertoire with sensitivity and curiosity, thereby enriching their artistic identity and understanding. Persistence is vital to vocal development, so I emphasise realistic goal-setting, consistent practice habits, and a growth mindset that embraces challenges as opportunities for improvement. In my studio, I strive to create a nurturing and dynamic environment where technical mastery, artistic creativity, and cultural empathy combine to empower singers to develop confidence and a meaningful relationship with their voice and music.
