About Avery
I'm a professional actor based in Brooklyn with more than a decade of work in film, television, and theater, including a starring role in Netflix's In the Tall Grass, guest roles on CBS's Magnum P.I. and FBI: Most Wanted, and stage work with companies like Peterborough Players, Mint Theater and Folger Theatre. I trained in a BFA acting conservatory at Rutgers and spent a year studying classical work at Shakespeare's Globe in London.
I started coaching because the audition, not the performance, is the part of this career most actors are left to figure out alone, and it's the part you wind up relying on the most. I address it directly: making strong choices, honing your self-tape craft, and managing the nerves that trip up even the most talented actors.
I'm practical, warm, and supportive of your work. I care more about giving you tools you can actually use than anything else. My goal is for you to come out feeling like auditions are something you can control, not something that controls you.

My coaching is practical and Meisner-informed, built around doing and not lecturing. We work on your actual audition material to find bold, specific, playable choices, then go through the scene with real-time adjustments until things feel good!
I also coach the production side of self-tapes that most training skips, including lighting, framing, sound, and simple editing that makes a tape look as professional as possible without breaking the bank. Plus practical tools for steadying audition nerves so your preparation holds up under pressure.
A typical session starts with talking about what you actually have coming up. We'll break down the sides, make bold choices, and get it on its feet or on camera. Then we work, refine, and troubleshoot your self-tape setup, so you leave with both a stronger take and a repeatable process you can use on your own.
What sets me apart is that I am a working professional actor with over a decade in film, television, and regional theater, trained in a BFA acting conservatory and at Shakespeare's Globe in London. I teach from experience in the current audition landscape, and I cover the on-camera and technical craft many coaches don't.
Lessons are for early-career and returning actors. BA and BFA grads launching their careers, and working actors prepping a specific audition or self-tape. All experience levels welcome. Available in person in NYC or remotely over Zoom.
