About Joshua

I have a deep passion for this subject. I think learning how to construct a good story imbues one with a sense of empathy as you will be juggling the emotions of several characters. I can't wait to get you started on a life long journey of exploration and discovery.

About the lesson

Joshua Weiner is a very talented and versatile writer. His career began in development where he read and provided coverage on thousands of TV pilots. He co-wrote his screenplay with Matt Walsh (UCB co-founder, VEEP) that was produced and ultimately acquired by Millineum Media. From there he sold a rom-com TV pilot to USA networks and created the viral sensation, DOWNTON ARBY’S. Soon after Joshua developed a dark comedy for Billy Crystal who served as the Executive Producer. Eventually, it was optioned by Audible as a scripted podcast. During the development and writing process, Joshua found and leaned into, his dramatic writing voice. He went on to develop a crime-noir drama with Imagine Entertainment that was also optioned as a scripted podcast. Currently, he’s out with a new drama pilot and with Zachary Quinto’s company attached as his producer.

My services include detailed page-by-page notes and hour-long zoom consultations for half-hour and hour-long pilots.

I’m also offering pitch-presentation coaching. We’ll spend two one-hour-long sessions breaking down the main elements you need to communicate to producers and buyers (i.e. backstory/personal connection to the story, logline, identifying themes, main characters, pilot episode, first and subsequent season arcs.) From there we’ll spend one more hour-long session strategizing and perfecting the presentation.
