I have never formally taught in a classroom setting, but I was a preschool teacher for 10 years, I taught both of my children to read, and I led many discussions in my recently completed master's program. I have a deep understanding of the English language, impediments that students experience while learning how to read, and how to connect with kids in a way that is neither authoritarian nor condescending.
In college, I majored in English, earning an AA in Liberal Arts with an English concentration, a BA in Literature with a minor in creative writing, and most recently, an MFA in Creative Writing with an emphasis on nonfiction. I am a current student working on my MA in Social Practice Art, after which I plan to start a nonprofit for young writers.
