About Tara
I homeschooled my own four children for a decade and a half and have currently returned to homeschooling my youngest this year. I am a licensed teacher (English 7-12 and Elementary Education 1-6) and have taught high school English, middle school social studies (5th U.S. history and 6th world history), and middle school advanced reading. I also have worked as a substitute teacher for all grade levels and have taught English online to children in China. Currently, I am working as a freelance proofreader and editor and am looking for tutoring opportunities.
My bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education, but I will finish my Master of Arts in English and Creative Writing in early May 2024. I am currently writing a historical fiction novel set in ancient Mesopotamia during the rise of Sargon the Great and have plans for further novels. Subjects I am most passionate about are English and the life sciences.

I will conduct lessons over anything from the basic level to secondary level writing. For lower levels, this means I will cover anything from phonics and reading to basic sentence- and paragraph-writing skills. For middle grades to higher levels, I can help with anything from working on prescriptive grammar to writing an effective essay or polished short story. I can also teach students how to revise and edit their work.
