About Michael
I have been a professional tutor since 1997, while I was getting my MFA at Columbia University. I chose this profession because it gives me a great deal of flexibility in my schedule that I need for my writing (screenplays, plays, short stories, poems). Because I started out in engineering and ended up majoring in English, I am well-versed in many subjects.

My method is dependent on two parties: the student and the teacher who instructs the student. If the teacher is not effective in communicating the material to the student, I go over the basics briefly until an understanding is met. Afterward (or otherwise), I tend to be Socratic in my approach with any material.
Lesson plans involve a brief review. If I'm teaching math, I may want confirmation that previous material was understood and I may go to some problems to be solved early on in the session before we discuss the material in question. The same would most likely apply to a physics class.
Lesson plans in English vary from how to write a sentence to how to write an essay. There are far more drills in the former than the latter, but the latter is more labor intensive.
