As a tutor, I rely heavily on organization and overcoming the stress of getting behind on assignments. I value long-term differences in learning. During a session, I typically like to start out with a game that we can talk through in a fun way. We also might go over all assignments that are current or past due, to get an overall understanding of what the child may need the most help with. At this point, we will go over class material that may need some more emphasizing, while also looking to find ways to encourage improvement and confidence over time. At the end of a session, the main goal will always be to make the child feel more confident moving forward in both overcoming stress and the specific course material. My strengths rely in writing and math, both in high school and middle school. I specialize in algebra and trigonometry, but can also tutor other math specialties, as well. My writing students tend to be high school students. I specialize in scholarship applications, resume building and college essays.
