About Shorea

Hi! I’m a native Indonesian speaker who enjoys helping people learn Bahasa Indonesia in a relaxed and supportive environment. I have been tutoring students since Grade 11 and have experience helping learners improve their confidence in reading, writing, and speaking Indonesian.

I have a Working With Children Check (WWCC), which allows me to safely work with children in Australia. Because of this, my students are school learners, but I also enjoy teaching adults who want to learn Indonesian for travel, personal interest, or cultural connection.

I have been actively involved in school clubs and student organisations since high school, including the English Club and research-based organisations. These experiences helped me develop strong communication and teaching skills. My goal is to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, patient, and tailored to each student’s level and goals.

I can help with:

• Indonesian for beginners
• School homework and exam preparation
• Conversation practice
• Reading and writing in Bahasa Indonesia
• Indonesian vocabulary and grammar
• Basic Indonesian for travel or daily communication

For younger students, I keep lessons engaging and supportive so they feel comfortable learning. For adults, lessons can focus more on practical conversation and useful expressions.

I adapt every lesson based on your level, interests, and learning pace so that learning Indonesian feels clear, practical, and enjoyable.

Emily's daughter is a sweet girl and a joy to teach. She learns very quickly and is always attentive during lessons.
She follows instructions well, picks up new vocabulary fast, and shows great enthusiasm for learning Indonesian.
