About Richard
I am a Graduate of Yale School of Art, and of Center for Creative Studies. I am a Kresge Foundation Fellow. I have been in many exhibitions. And I love museums. I grew up studying The Detroit Institute of Arts. I actually worked as a guard at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I studied the paintings at the Yale Art Gallery. I've seen great painting at The Museum of Modern Art, The Jewish Museum, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Barnes Foundation, The Frick Collection, The National Gallery of Art, The Phillips Collection, The Smithsonian and others. Museums have always been the most consistent of teachers for artists. Always go to museums. They are the source of knowledge.

About the lesson

I teach drawing, figure drawing, oil painting, watercolor, portraiture, and figurative sculpture. The student would work from the overall general idea to specifics. There will be an emphasis on seeing throughout. Seeing shapes, alignments, positive and negative spaces, tones and values.
