About Colette
Piano became my constant shadow during those early morning practice sessions in my childhood home. I spent 13 years refining a pedagogical style that bridges the gap between structured notation and fluid jazz improvisation.
My 408 students have helped me refine a focus on chord voicing and hand independence. Rhythm and timing form the bedrock of my approach. I emphasize the importance of classical repertoire to build a balanced, capable musician. Technique matters.

Diagnostic playing assessment before we set a learning plan allows me to see your current habits clearly. I view this as a necessary step for genuine improvement. My lessons prioritize the development of physical mechanics alongside the theoretical underpinnings of the music. We utilize my background as an MMus graduate from the Yale School of Music to explore complex harmonic structures.
You will gain mastery over chord voicing and improvisation through this methodical process. My goal involves building your confidence through precise feedback and clear expectations. Consistency serves as the primary driver for all our sessions together. You will see results through this steady, disciplined work.
