About Rivers

Hi! I'm a passionate and friendly maths tutor with a Mathematics degree from the University of Edinburgh (2015–2019), where I graduated with a 2:1. Maths has always been a subject that energised me—it just made sense in a way that clicked, and I’ve always loved how it sharpens your thinking.

While it’s true that calculators and computers can do the number-crunching these days, I believe the real value of learning maths lies in the mindset it builds—logical reasoning, problem-solving, and resilience. These are skills that serve you for life, and I’m here to help students develop them.

During university, I mentored fellow students in maths-related courses, and since COVID, I’ve been virtually tutoring GCSE and A-Level Maths. I understand what students go through because I’ve been there not too long ago myself—I'm 28, sporty, ambitious, and genuinely care about inspiring young people to reach their potential, not just in maths but in life.

Whether you're aiming for top grades or just trying to make sense of it all, I’d love to help you build confidence and succeed.

About the lesson

My lessons are practical, focused, and all about building confidence through doing. I believe the best way to learn maths is by working through examples together—step by step—so you not only get the right answers, but really understand how to get there.

Rather than diving too deep into heavy theory, I focus on clear explanations and tried-and-tested methods that make sense for GCSE and A-Level exams. I know that too much theory can feel overwhelming or abstract, so I keep things grounded and relevant.

Whether you're stuck on a tricky topic or want to stretch to the top grades, my lessons are tailored to your level and learning style. You'll come away feeling more confident and ready to tackle questions on your own.
