About Kari
Hallo! I’m Kari, a 53-year-old passionate Norwegian, born and bred, though my journey has carried me across the globe — and gifted me four languages along the way.
I'm from Oslo, but my roots are on the Norwegian coast, in a small house I return to every summer and every Christmas. There’s a magic to that season by the sea that’s genuinely hard to describe — I’d say it belongs on everyone’s must-experience list.
Twenty-five years into teaching, and I still feel a spark of excitement before every lesson. I’m endlessly curious about people — I love uncovering the story behind each student, what makes them tick, what they’re chasing. To me, a language is never just rules and vocabulary; it’s a key that unlocks how a people truly live, laugh, and connect.
When I step away from teaching, you’ll usually find me outdoors — hiking, keeping active, meditating, or spending time with good friends. Join me to learn Norwegian, and let’s uncover it side by side.

A quarter-final exit, and still — 100,000 people packed the streets of Oslo to welcome their team home, singing.
They call it the Viking Row. I call it very Norwegian.
No sulking, no blame. Just gratitude for how far they’d come, and pride in getting there together.
That’s the real reason I teach Norwegian — not the verb tables, not the pronunciation drills (though we’ll do those too), but the mindset behind the language. Words like koselig don’t translate neatly into English, because the feeling behind them is uniquely Norwegian.
So when you learn Norwegian with me, you’re not just picking up a new language. You’re learning to see the world a little differently — with more humility, more warmth, and a lot more koselig.
