About Maria

Hello! My name is Maria Lozano, I am a university student in the Greater Boston Area. Being a foreigner myself, I understand the struggles of not knowing how to communicate in a different language; however, I am here to help! Combining my passion for talking, dancing, and music, I will be happy to guide you through the Spanish language (no matter how knowledgeable you are). I have experience teaching younger children and participating in discussions with professionals one-on-one. Practice makes perfect, and talking is the best way!

Taking lessons with me:

As a college student, I have experienced many formats of learning and found that what is best effective is the Socratic method (dialogue between teacher and student).

Being a foreigner myself, I find that to learn a new language, the best way to attain the skill is to talk with a native speaker.

For introductory students: *pre-K-12
- Simple communication; e.g "hello, my name is... [Hola, mi nombre es...]"
- alphabet
- nouns, verbs to describe the action in the present tense
- culture lesson (e.g. society, foods, events)
-phoenetics

Intermediate students: *middle school and higher, unless basic knowledge obtained.
- complex sentence structure; e.g. lesson on the use of present, past, and future "I have... [yo tengo]", "I had... [yo tenía]", "I will have... [Yo voy a tener {or} yo teneré"
- nouns, verbs to describe the action in the present tense
- culture lesson (e.g. society, foods, events)
** class will be conducted primarily in Spanish, conversation based. English language will be utilized to ask questions.

Advance students: *K-college + working professionals.
- based on the desire, class can be geared toward working professionals who may benefit (work advancement), e.g. medical, education, business, etc.
- communication solely in Spanish, with exception to using English when a question arises.

Work-based Spanish students:
-individually based on the needs required to communicate with others in the field.
- basic Spanish and work-related Spanish will be taught.

Why you should work with me:
Hi everyone, my name is Maria Lozano. I am a 3rd-year premedical student at MCPHS University in Boston. I have a spontaneous personality and love to share my skills to help others advance in respected aspects of life. I am 21 years old, super friendly, and love to communicate in Spanish as this is my primary tongue. I am happy to teach students as young as 2-3 years old, to working professionals. I have the flexibility to work with you online, and in person if needed. I adore music and find that listening to it, singing, and translating is one of the best formats for learning. If you enjoy having fun and want to learn a new language while doing so, take a lesson with me! Looking forward to meeting you!
