About Garima
I’m a motivated and approachable Year 12 student with a strong passion for mathematics and science. Having completed NCEA Level 2 Mathematics a year ahead of my year level and currently studying NCEA Level 3 Calculus, I have a strong understanding of the challenges students can face when learning new concepts. I enjoy helping others build their confidence, understand difficult topics, and achieve their academic goals. I’m patient, reliable, and committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn.

I aim to make maths clear, approachable, and confidence-building. I focus on understanding the reasoning behind each concept rather than simply memorising formulas or following set procedures. I adjust my teaching to each student's learning style and current level, identifying areas they find difficult and breaking challenging concepts into smaller, manageable steps.
During lessons, I like to work through examples together before allowing the student to attempt similar questions independently. I encourage students to explain their thinking and ask questions, as this helps identify gaps in understanding and builds confidence. For NCEA students, I can also provide guidance on applying concepts to unfamiliar questions and developing effective problem-solving and exam techniques.
Lesson Length
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although this can be adjusted depending on the student's needs, age, and level.
Qualifications and Experience
I am currently a Year 12 NCEA student and have completed NCEA Level 2 Mathematics one year ahead of my year level. I am currently studying NCEA Level 3 Calculus as a Year 12 student, giving me recent experience with the content and assessment style of both Level 2 and Level 3 mathematics.
While I am a student tutor rather than a professional teacher, my experience learning mathematics ahead of my year level has given me a strong understanding of the challenges students can face when learning new concepts. I aim to use this experience to explain concepts in a clear and relatable way, particularly from a student's perspective.
Who My Lessons Are For
I offer tutoring for students from primary school through to Year 12. My main subject is Mathematics, and I can support students across a range of year levels, including NCEA Mathematics.
For primary and intermediate students, as well as students up to Year 10, I can also provide tutoring in Physics and Chemistry, alongside Mathematics. I can support students with building strong foundations, understanding difficult topics, completing practice questions, and developing confidence in their subjects.
