About Inspired Sounds

Offering 30+ years experience of award winning music tuition services in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere based at my studio in Newburgh, Fife. Monday to Friday. Online lessons via video conferencing app Zoom are also available worldwide. Catering for all levels of player, from complete novice through to experienced musicians looking to brush up on their existing skills. All ages welcome. Electric or Acoustic Guitar to Grade 8 and beyond. Bass Guitar to grade 6 level, and Ukulele to grade 5. Further Info: Whether looking to play some of your favourite songs, or to study for internationally recognised qualifications. I tailor the lessons to suit individual needs. I am a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors and the London College of Music (LCM), which allows SQA/Ofqual accredited graded exams to be taken. I also teach Rockschool and Trinity Rock and Pop Syllabus for students wishing to take these exams. UCAS points are available from all 3 examination houses from grades 6 to 8 to aid in higher education, even if applying for a non music orientated course at University or College. I have a 100% pass rate for the hundreds of students who have taken graded exams. Tab/standard notation reading, rhythm, improvisation, fingerstyle as well as guitar technique and music theory are taught, as well as most contemporary musical styles from jazz/blues to rock/pop. Help with composition/arrangement can also be provided if interested in songwriting, or help with High School/Further education syllabus. Member of the Musicians Union, and registered with the PVG scheme with Disclosure Scotland. I have played guitar for over thirty five years, and have over thirty years award winning music teaching experience. As well as studying music at college and university, I have also played guitar in a number of bands over the years and have a lot of performance/recording experience. To this end, I also offer my studio space to any budding singers, songwriters, or bands out there who would like to record music. I have also successfully engineered and produced Audiobooks for various clients. These have been uploaded and are on sale via Audible (Amazon). I enjoy my job very much and derive great satisfaction from seeing my students progress and become better musicians. What To Expect Basically, my whole approach to teaching is to serve to your needs. I don't force my students to follow a strict prescribed doctrine they won't enjoy. If you are just a casual learner wanting to pick up a few chords or play songs by your favourite band, that's no problem... For those of you looking to study the instruments more seriously, I do offer a more complete series of lessons, which will equip you with the basics and improve your techniques and knowledge over time.
