About Ward
Programming began for me as a hobby that turned into a rigorous discipline over 13 years of practice. I admit that I spent way too many early nights fighting with simple syntax errors before I truly understood how Java and SQL backend systems communicate.
Holding an MSc Chemistry degree from UC Berkeley taught me how to break down hard problems into manageable data structures and clean JavaScript code. I have helped 437 students refine their Git workflows and object-oriented design patterns throughout my career. Let us get to work on solving your next coding challenge together.

Starting our first session with a direct assessment of your current coding skills helps me understand your strengths, challenges, and approach to problem-solving. I also evaluate how comfortably you work with databases, APIs, and core programming concepts.
After each class, I provide a hands-on mini project designed to reinforce the concepts we covered. These tasks are practical and structured to reflect real-world development scenarios while maintaining a strong focus on clear logic and academic fundamentals.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing the moment a student fixes a complex bug and finally understands why their program works. My goal is to help you build that same confidence through consistent practice, guidance, and deeper understanding.
