About Mavis
"Newcomer kids and adults often arrive at my door seeking a bridge to their new community. I recall the quiet focus in a room as a student finally connects a phrasal verb to their lived reality. My BA in English and CELTA certification allow me to guide you through accent softening and TOEFL preparation with care.
Listening comprehension and conversational fluency remain the cornerstones of my practice. These 13 years have taught me that language is the true anchor for those rebuilding their lives. I look forward to supporting your progress."

"Silence is the most important part of my classroom. You will find that stillness creates the space needed for true acquisition to occur.
We spend time building your writing skills and speaking confidence through deliberate exercises. Vocabulary building happens naturally as we explore topics that matter to you.
I integrate music as a constant companion for rhythm and tone. My BA in English from Humber College provides a structured framework for our work. I stay focused on your goals until we reach them. You are safe here."
