  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    1)
I just like teaching. This is coherent to my way of thinking, I believe I even learn more by exchanging my knowledge with students.
After I did a TEFL course I became sure that it's really my passion!
The other field of interest which grows in my for long is engineering - this is bound to physics and mathematics tightly. I LOVE physics and maths and know them from top to bottom :-)
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    2)
My most beloved topic is mechanics - is it physics or mathematics mechanics, doesn't matter. I am like Newton in this case: I also love moving bodies.
If we talk about less interesting topics... Well these are mainly the weird questions, with unclear wording. Examboards love putting students in traps using them but I personally don't like their way of confusing students. I'd prefer just more difficult questions with plot twists :)
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

    3)
My role models are my 2 teachers from school. First was an old man who saw a lot in his life and had so much charm and power in his speech that I really wanted to learn together with him! He told me physics.
The other woman was teaching English to me. She did it in such a pragmatic and cold-blooded manner that I realised: I will never teach anyone the way she did. She was so inattentive to what she taught that her lessons completely took away our desire to learn the Language.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    4)
To be a good tutor you have to speak the language your student speaks. Having said this I don't mean English and only English, I mean breaking the age barrier and being able to reduce the sense of shame or fear in students.
Also you have to be a nice man and know your subject well but without the first point everything else won't work this efficiently.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

    5)
When you don't know physics, the world becomes full of magic for you.
(But we physicists know that it's full of magic even when you know physics!)
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

    6)
Maths in comparison to physics is a subject which isn't bound to a physical world directly (especially further maths) and so for a person like me who is used to understanding everything in the context of the real world, understanding further maths is difficult sometimes.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

    7)
I love making models! I used to make tethered cars and model trains with their own steam engines inside. I love creating and I dream that one day I will start teaching crafts! :-)
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

    8)
I am a Superprof by nature! I love teaching, love my subject and love everything about it, every branch of it.
