About Charna
Acquiring a BA in Ethnomusicology from UCLA provided the foundation for my 9 years of teaching and performance. The fiddle remains my primary voice after decades of festival stages.
I balance deep academic knowledge with the grit of American folk traditions. Music requires both discipline and a sense of humor to sustain long-term growth. My approach focuses on EARNING TRADITION while keeping the pressure manageable for every player. These years in the scene taught me that slow progress is the only kind that lasts.

Sometimes I find that technical perfection matters less than the ability to keep a steady groove. Beginners and exam candidates alike often struggle to bridge the gap between sight reading and playing by ear. We address intonation, spiccato, and staccato bowing using repertoire that challenges your technical limits. Music theory serves as our map to navigate tricky passages.
I record playback of these specific sections so you can review the nuance at home. You will find that these sessions prioritize listening above all else.
