About Phyliss
Holding an MSc in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University seems like the wrong starting point for a game of intuition. Teaching 113 students taught me that strategy is about patterns, not just academic credentials.
I focus on pattern recognition, middlegame planning, piece coordination, game analysis, calculation and visualization, attacking play, board vision, and opening repertoire building. Math only clicked when I slowed down the why, which is exactly how I approach the board. I am always happy to help you find your footing.

Enjoyment stems from seeing the board clearly rather than memorizing dry moves. Clarity remains the primary goal of every minute we spend together at the board. Drawing on 12 years of experience, I break down piece coordination and middlegame planning into small, digestible pieces that make sense to the human brain. We will build your opening repertoire and sharpen your visualization skills through deliberate, low pressure practice.
This process is designed to be steady and accessible for every student I teach. I promise to keep the pressure low and the curiosity high.
