About Claudia
I hold a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Concordia University. My tutoring journey began when I started my undergraduate program, helping students improve their math grades for over 9 years. I also worked with students as a Summer School teacher this past July, preparing them for their Quebec Ministerial exams. Twice a year, I hold mid- as well as end-of-year exam preparation sessions with another company by reviewing a mock exam with the types of questions students can expect. Bonus: I worked as a research assistant in data analysis with two professors aiming to publish scientific papers.

My lessons focus on the students' individual needs, covering recent topics from their class or ones they may have struggled with for a while.
I usually begin by asking students whether they would like for me to clarify a theory of a concept, which I provide supplementary notes with a virtual white board, explaining the rules, and formulas prevalent to the lesson followed by demonstrating one or two examples on how to apply the steps. For problem-solving tasks such as word problems, I break down each step and help students highlight key details. This provides the space to reflect what a problem needs, and what tools are available to solving. Afterward, I assign students practice problems (either one that I create, or from their assignments), giving them to time to work on them individually for a few minutes (depending on the length of the problem). After, I review their work and offer them feedback, if necessary, to improve their solution.
One important aspect to the lessons is the level of interaction between the student and the teacher. I believe that when the student can communicate with their teacher, they engage themselves more and foster a deeper understanding of the material. And questions are always welcomed! I will gladly explain the same concept repeatedly until it is clear and we can move on to the next step.
The sessions are catered to anyone in High School (Grade 9 to 12) and College (CEGEP, First-year university) who is in search of a tutor that will help them strengthen their mathematical skills.
