My RCM Artist Diploma provides the rigorous foundation necessary to teach jazz improvisation alongside classical repertoire. We will analyse music theory, sight transposition, and memorisation techniques to build your confidence. I integrate pop and contemporary styles with traditional posture and hand position training to ensure you possess total facility. I record a short playback of each session so students can review at home, ensuring that the specific nuances of our work on accompaniment skills and complex rhythms remain clear long after you leave the bench. We treat every piece as a physical structure, analysing the mechanics of your hand position while exploring the theory that governs the sound.
Because I maintain a concept first approach, I ensure you understand the why behind every note, which makes the learning process significantly more efficient and enjoyable as you progress through your ABRSM or Trinity grade exam prep.
