About Stevie
Whether you have a history of trying new skills or have never once before considered trying to knit or crochet, embroider or weave, I believe you can learn these skills. In the decades I’ve shared my expertise, I have never met the student who wanted to learn but was unable to master these techniques. If you have the curiosity and desire to learn, I can teach you. While it is easier to learn in person, I taught project-centered crochet and knitting lessons during the Pandemic Lockdown and every single student finished their project successfully.

I follow a kind, curiosity-driven and hands-on approach to teaching skills. Learning should be fun and rewarding, leaving the student proud of their growth. I share tips for managing the ergonomics of manual skills to ensure years of enjoyment.
A typical lesson includes discussion of materials, possibly some historical context, and clarification of the student’s goals. I then demonstrate the skill in manageable segments. The student is expected to observe then attempt that segment of the skill. Recommendations and help are offered at every stage. Once a student is confident, we proceed to the next stage of the project. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson.
