About Ruby
I am a passionate guitar tutor with over 11 years of teaching experience, and I also perform and compose regularly. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies, which has given me a strong foundation in both technique and music theory. My teaching philosophy centres on music as a creative and lifelong skill, one that can inspire and empower anyone who picks up the guitar. I work with students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced musicians. I focus on building solid fundamentals while encouraging creativity and self-expression. Whether we are exploring classical fingerpicking, hybrid techniques, or improvisation, I aim to make every lesson engaging and meaningful. My goal is not just to teach guitar, but to foster a genuine love of learning. I guide students through mastering skills while also helping them discover their unique musical voice. I emphasise both technical development and emotional connection to music. By combining structured practice with creative exploration, I help students gain confidence and joy in their playing. Seeing them progress and express themselves through the guitar is the most rewarding part of my work. I strive to make every lesson inspiring, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students enjoy and master the guitar at every level. I start by understanding each student’s goals and musical interests. Whether you are a beginner or preparing for advanced performance, I tailor lessons to suit your pace. I cover classical fingerpicking, staff reading, hybrid picking techniques, and tonal control, helping students develop precision and expressiveness. I emphasise building strong fundamentals first, then gradually introducing complex techniques. We explore different styles, from acoustic to electric, and work on creating smooth transitions between chords and melodies. I also focus on developing improvisation skills and musical creativity. For students aiming to perform or record, I guide them on phrasing, stage presence, and expressing emotion through music. I encourage regular practice, provide constructive feedback, and celebrate every achievement. My lessons are interactive and engaging, making learning both fun and effective. Ultimately, I help students not just play songs, but truly understand the guitar, improve their confidence, and excel in both personal projects and professional goals.
