About Dorcas
I have a B.S. in Mass Communication from Boston University. I am a native Spanish speaker, completely fluent in both oral and written communication. I tested out of the foreign language requirement in college via my AP testing score. I have spent the last 12 years successfully teaching my sons Spanish, and most recently declined a Spanish paraeducator position with SVUSD (Simi Valley Unified School District) due to a high demand for Spanish tutors.

My approach to teaching is full immersion heavily focused on the fundamentals using visual aides and hands-on activities to help students connect to the Spanish language. Oral repetition of words to build vocabulary and communications skills is essential. I make it fun by incorporating technology and online games that provide text to audio options so that it's less intimidating and they can practice at home independently, significantly increasing their understanding of the language and grade at school.

Details
There is a $5 additional cost for travel to your home for one-to-one tutoring. However, reduced pricing is available for pods of two students at a time at a rate of $20/hr per student and travel fee would be waived.
