About David

I’m David, a 21 year old student from Sydney and just like you I love to build things. I started experimenting with VBA back when I was 10 and fell in love with programming. Since then, I've turned my passion into something I pursue professionally and academically. My experience with programming includes:

2+ Years building systems with Python and KDB+/Q at one of Australia's largest financial institutions, turning my 6 month co-operative internship into a full-time role as an Analyst.
A current 6.57 GPA in my Computer Science degree at the University of Technology Sydney
Band 6 (93/100) in Software Design and Development in Year 12

I came to SuperProf after realising one of the most rewarding parts of my job was assisting people in making their programming ideas a reality. I've assisted all sorts of professionals and students from interns just starting out their coding experience, to seasoned veterans who are looking for ideas to improve the performance, quality and architecture of their code.

About the lesson

Let's face it. You're likely not here because you just want to "learn programming". The reality is you want to build something. Maybe there is something at work that feels way too complicated than it needs to be, or a killer product that you believe could conquer the app store if only you knew how to get it started.

So you look up a tutorial or two online and get busy. This works for a while until disaster strikes: the tutorials just stop making sense!

They aren’t clear, don’t accommodate for what you need to do and break with the slightest modification. All kinds of terminology and software and tools are being thrown around and you can’t workout what’s what! And every time you try to dig deeper into this terminology, none of it seems even directly consequential to the problems you actually want to solve!

My name is David and I’m here to help. You shouldn’t have to sift through tutorials and bang your head against the keyboard until they work. My intention is to guide you through how to accomplish exactly what you want to, while teaching you about core coding concepts along the way.

If you're a new starter looking for some guidance, I can: 

Set up a productive development environment to get you writing code across Windows, macOS and Linux

  Teach you the basics of coding in Python and Javascript, two of the most in demand languages across the industry

Guide you through the vast ocean of documentation available online so you can best navigate how to get started on your dream project.

I offer a free first lesson so you can determine if we’re a good fit to work together. After the first lesson, I charge the following for tutoring at the following levels:

$40 for 45 Minute Session for Beginners (Year 11/Year 12/First Year IT/CompSci Students)

$55 for 45 Minute Session for Students and Working Professionals (Second Year + IT/CompSci Students / Recent Graduates)

$85 for Beginner/Intermediate KDB/Q Training (Finance Professionals)
