About Alex

WHY ME? I was self-taught, back in the mid 90s, so I love being the resource I never had. I learnt from magazines and manuals, mostly in the bath. Within two years I was writing tutorials for most of the best-selling music tech magazines in the UK, and still do to this day. My in-person teaching started in the mid 00s. I was working with a number of high-profile radio and club DJs, mixing their commercially released DJ mixes in Ableton Live and helping them to create their bootleg mashups. I soon became the go-to 'Live guy', and the teaching requests flooded in.

About the lesson

HOW I APPROACH TEACHING I have no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. We all have different goals. And we all learn differently. I'll start by finding out what you want to get from the lessons and proposing a plan to achieve that. –Want to work faster? –Want your mixes to sound better? –Can't nail the sound of your favourite artist / genre? –Complete beginner and just want to learn what everything does? Then I'll find out how you like to learn and make sure that's how we roll... –Prefer to just get stuck in and hands on? –Like to understand some of the theory? –Visual learner or do you like to read information? –Bite-size one hour lessons or four-hour intense sessions? WHO CAN I HELP? You, hopefully! ;-) Over the years I've helped people of all ages, genders, experiences levels, and backgrounds. We're all here because we love music and are fascinated by the craft of it. The rest is just a bit of chemistry... so drop me a line and we can see how we get along.
