About Jacob
I love math, and I love teaching math! Everyone can learn math, but sometimes, some of us need a little extra help understanding what is happening and how everything connects. I enjoy helping others make those connections, and finding the elegance in math.

I work with students who find math challenging. I like to use previously acquired knowledge to help students see that math is cumulative. We all forget details, and math is especially bad about that! I am patient when students forget, and use that chance to reinforce knowledge the student has already learned, but may not realize is still relevant to current lessons.
I start a lesson with an introduction to what is being taught, and why it is important to learn it by showing how it applies to real-world situations. I then show a few examples, and have the student practice one to gain confidence. I then show a more challenging problem for the student to work on that resembles the examples already solved.
My lessons are geared for high school and undergraduate levels.
