About Abigail

I teach yoga and mindfulness alongside private Spanish lessons, and that calming, breath-focused background shapes almost everything about how gently I approach every single lesson today. Six years into teaching Spanish now, I've worked with about one hundred ten students, many of them people who specifically described real anxiety around speaking a new language aloud. My yoga background gives me genuine tools, breathing techniques, grounding exercises, calm presence, that most language teachers were simply never taught themselves professionally. I work particularly well with anxious or self-conscious students, since I bring the same calming, non-judgmental presence I use constantly in my yoga teaching practice. My teaching style is calm, patient, and genuinely grounding, built on the belief that a relaxed nervous system learns and speaks far more freely than a tense, anxious one. I have guided numerous anxious students toward genuine, lasting confidence, watching many finally relax enough to speak freely without the racing panic they described previously. Students consistently tell me they leave lessons feeling calmer, not just more knowledgeable, which I consider a genuinely important measure of real success. I take real pride in helping students who once dreaded speaking discover a much calmer, more confident relationship with Spanish. After six years, I remain genuinely passionate about this calm, mindful teaching approach.

My background teaching yoga and mindfulness shapes an entirely calm, breath-centered approach to teaching Spanish, since I genuinely believe a relaxed body speaks far more freely than a tense one. Every lesson opens with a brief grounding moment, a few slow breaths, settling the nervous system before we even begin, since I've watched anxiety block more genuine progress than actual lack of knowledge. We work with breath consciously during speaking practice, since I've found controlled, calm breathing genuinely reduces the racing, panicked feeling many students describe when speaking a new language aloud. Vocabulary and grammar still get covered thoroughly, but always within a genuinely unhurried, pressure-free atmosphere that keeps the nervous system calm rather than activated. I check in regularly on how a student is feeling physically and emotionally, not just their technical accuracy, since tension in the body directly affects fluency and genuine confidence. Mistakes get met with calm acceptance rather than correction delivered sharply, since I've found gentle, non-judgmental feedback genuinely produces faster, more lasting progress than harsh correction ever does. I sometimes use simple mindfulness techniques before a particularly challenging exercise, helping students approach difficulty calmly rather than with rising anxiety or dread. Every lesson stays genuinely calm, grounded, and free of the pressure that so often blocks real language learning progress.
