About Opeyemi

Hello, everyone! My name is Opeyemi Olanipekun, and I am excited to embark on a journey of knowledge and growth as your teacher. Teaching is not just a profession for me; it is my true passion, deeply ingrained in my upbringing and nurtured over my 20 years of experience in the field. As a teacher raised by a teacher, I have had the privilege of being immersed in the world of education from a young age, actively involved in all aspects of my father's school. This early exposure ignited a flame within me, driving me to pursue a career dedicated to transforming lives through education.
With over two decades of teaching experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge, skills, and insights to the classroom. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students of diverse age groups, from elementary to middle and high school. This extensive experience has honed my ability to connect with students, understand their unique needs, and tailor my teaching methods to ensure their academic success.
I hold not just one, but two bachelor's degrees—one in Animal Science and the other in Education. This dual background provides me with a unique advantage in the classroom. It allows me to draw upon my comprehensive knowledge of the natural world and its intricate processes, bringing real-world examples and practical applications to the subjects I teach. Whether it's exploring the wonders of biology or diving into the principles of mathematics, I strive to make learning a captivating and immersive experience for my students.
Among the various subjects I teach, mathematics holds a special place in my heart. I am deeply fascinated by its logical structure and the problem-solving skills it cultivates. I aim to share my enthusiasm for mathematics, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and encouraging students to approach problem-solving with confidence and creativity.
Additionally, as a native speaker of Yoruba, I spent my first 34years in Nigeria and I take great pride in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. Teaching the Yoruba language allows me to instill a sense of cultural identity and appreciation in my students, fostering a deeper connection to their roots and a broader understanding of the world around them.

About the lesson

This fun class will be centered on Yoruba culture which is one of the languages in Nigeria. Students are going to learn some of the vocabulary that goes with the topic of the day. They will also learn simple words to use in daily life and for conversation. The class is going to be interactive and fun. Students will also have the opportunity to show and share whatever they have that is African-like, things like clothes, instruments, etc. I love music and we will learn through songs. At the beginning of the class, we will be introducing ourselves and chat about our heritage. I am excited and I am looking forward to meeting your child. Be ready to have FUN!!
