About Tim
I teach bass guitar. In August 1992 I went to Japan for the first time to teach some classes and simply fell in love with the country. I saw my destiny. I knew I had to live there and make my life there. I knew that in order to do that I would have to learn Japanese. When I came back to the US I enrolled at UCLA in their Japanese course. I got straight A's the entire three years. I could speak, read, and write Japanese at a basic level. While I was at UCLA I was offered a job teaching bass guitar at a school in Osaka, Japan. I stayed there for 23 years, speaking Japanese every day of my life.

My lessons focus on the basics of the Japanese language. It is a complicated language with three writing systems and multiple levels of politeness. Beyond simply learning grammar in order to speak Japanese correctly you have to learn how the Japanese use their language to reflect their feeling of both their social standing and that of the person they're speaking with.
