About Hinako

Hi, I’m Hinako.

I’m originally from Hokkaido, Japan, and I’ve also spent time living in Chile last year.

Experiencing different cultures and languages has deeply influenced the way I teach. I understand what it feels like to navigate life in another language — not just in a classroom, but in real, everyday situations.

What makes me different as a teacher is that I focus on the emotional side of learning as much as the academic side. Language learning is not only about grammar — it’s about confidence, identity, and connection.

I love using Japanese as a bridge between cultures. In my lessons, learning is not one-sided — we share experiences, compare cultures, and discover new ways of seeing the world together.

About the lesson

I have been teaching Japanese since March 2025 and will begin formal university training in Japanese language education this year.

Over the past year, I have worked closely with beginner learners who often feel nervous about speaking. Many of my students started with very little confidence, and one of my main goals is helping them move from “I understand, but I can’t speak” to “I can say this by myself.”

Rather than simply covering textbook content, I focus on how students process grammar and where confusion usually happens. I break down complex structures into clear and logical steps. This helps students feel secure and less overwhelmed.

Instead of focusing on perfect pronunciation, I prioritize communication. My goal is not to make students sound native immediately, but to help them express their thoughts clearly and confidently.

Mistakes are treated as part of growth, not something to fear.

I currently teach up to JLPT N4 level and am preparing to expand to N3.
