About Rebecca

I have been classically trained by a professional pianist since age 5, and achieved my grade 8 piano in 2020. I am now 20, and working towards my diploma level, and practise composition and sight reading most days. I achieved my grade 5 theory in 2016, and taught myself A level music whilst doing my A levels. I have also created 50 self-written tracks, using skills learnt during my classical training. I have worked extensively with young people, including SEN individuals, from ages 4-18, teaching and creating music alongside them. Alongside this, I studied music therapy and wrote an essay on its importance and benefits. I love working with people, and sharing music with them. Introducing others to music is one of the greatest things I can do!

About the lesson

Hello! My name is Becca and I am currently a student studying Music and Sound Recording at the University of Surrey. I have a profound passion for making music and composing, and find a lot of joy in sharing this with others! I take a gentle approach to teaching, ensuring students feel at ease and comfortable to make mistakes (as that’s the point of learning!), whilst also feeling motivated to practise and improve! We will work on finger technique, precision, sight reading and music theory, as well as a bit of composition. I have experience working with SEN individuals with severe learning disabilities, as well as young children from ages 4-12, but I am happy to teach any age! Lessons will be around 30-45 minutes, but I am more than happy to be flexible for what suits you. I will work with complete beginners up to grade 3, although I am pretty flexible on this too. I have achieved grade 8 piano and grade 7 oboe with ABRSM, working towards distinction level, so I will work with most levels!
