About Sue
I have been teaching English as another language to children and adults since 2007, overseas and in Australia. The last 7 years I’ve been managing a department that teachers adults settlement and vocational English. I am most passionate about teaching vocabulary and pronunciation, because it helps spelling and grammar, which improves speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

My teaching philosophy is that learning should be fun, whatever your age. If my students are happy and engaged then I know the lesson went well. I don’t believe in learning from a textbook, because it doesn’t always allow for incidental learning. Although we have different learning styles, most of us learn best by doing. With language, this means using what you learn in real situations, not to pass an assessment. Many language learners lack confidence, especially in speaking, and I have the patience to help overcome this. I love using songs and singing in my lessons, as this is a proven way to improve vocabulary and pronunciation.
