About Nick

Bonjour ! I'm Nick, a near-native French speaker, Los Angeles-based screenwriter and actor, and passionate language tutor with 18 years of experience living, breathing, and loving la langue française.

My journey began with a spark of inspiration at age 13: seeing the children of a close family friend switch effortlessly between English and French, completely at ease in both worlds. That moment planted a seed that took me all the way to Paris, where I lived, studied, and worked, immersing myself fully in the language, the culture, and the city that has captivated the world for centuries.

My professional background in film and television gives me a deep appreciation for France's unparalleled contribution to the arts. After all, the French invented cinema. I bring that same love of storytelling, music, and culture into every lesson, using all varieties of authentic French media to make the language come alive in ways that a textbook simply cannot.

I believe that fluency is built not just through grammar drills, but through genuine connection to a language's soul. French music, with its lyrical poetry and emotional depth, is one of my favorite teaching tools, as well as a beautiful reminder of why this language is worth mastering.

Whether you're a complete beginner or an advanced speaker looking to refine your skills, I am here to guide you with professionalism, warmth, and a healthy dose of humor. My students leave lessons feeling confident, engaged, and genuinely excited to keep going.

About the lesson

Learning French should feel fun and accessible, not intimidating or impossible.

With 18 years of experience mastering French from the ground up, I know exactly what it takes to go from hesitant beginner to confident speaker. My lessons are designed for adults who are serious about actually using the language, be it ordering wine in Paris, acing a DELF/DALF exam, or finally understanding what the hell French people are saying.

My main priority is instilling confidence in proper pronunciation for both speaking and listening. French sounds and grammar rules are notoriously intimidating: nasal vowels, silent letters, liaison rules that nobody explains properly, just to name a few. I'll break it all down into approachable, memorable techniques so you stop second-guessing yourself and start sounding like you know what you're doing — because you will!

Every session follows a clear, satisfying structure: we review what you worked on, dive into new material, and put it into practice right away. Repetition and real conversation are the best to reinforce knowledge and learning. I draw on films, music, and French media to keep things fresh and culturally alive, while making sure the grammar foundations are rock solid underneath it all.

Why me? I've lived the learning journey myself, and I bring all the hard-won shortcuts, slang, and cultural nuance that textbooks leave out. My style is fun, warm, and informed. We'll laugh but we'll also learn!
