About George
When I was very young, I was quite shy and lacking in confidence. For me, the most important catalyst for my development into a well-rounded and assured individual was academic and extra-curricular achievement. As I did well in school, I grew in confidence. Then, as I grew in confidence, I did even better in school. I had created a positive feedback loop!
I love tutoring because it is the best way to help people achieve their goals and become the person they want to be. Sometimes, classrooms and groups can be inhibiting for learning. In my professional experience, one-to-one tuition can be the perfect learning approach for some people. It can dispel the false perception that some students have like, "I'm not academic" or "I can't keep up with the class". In my lessons, I like to ensure subjects are covered at the right pace so that students do not feel rushed, and they can actually enjoy exploring anything that peaks their curiosity.
I have over four years' tutoring experience, working with students in primary and secondary education. I have also worked with adult professionals, teaching English as a foreign language, as well as offering writing/editing services for CVs and personal statements.
As a comedian, I have also coached improv comedy to beginners. I love helping apprehensive and nervous people to discover their creativity and come out of their shell, so that they can go out and perform on stage. I import a lot of lessons from improv into my academic tutoring, such as, "There are no mistakes; only opportunities." I never want students to feel like they can't make mistakes. I try to cultivate a curious atmosphere where we use mistakes to indicate where we can improve.

Typical lesson length: I offer 30-minute or 1-hour lessons.
My qualifications: I received 13 A*s at GCSE, A*AA at A Level and a 1st-class degree in Law from UCL. I also have a diploma in musical performance.
I understand the importance of exam technique, as well as feeling mentally prepared for nerve-wracking assessments.
With a background in musical and comedic performance, I am keen to build the confidence of students and to help them see exams as their chance to shine.
