About John

I’m a former IELTS Examiner with IDP and I have 10 years of academic language teaching experience, both in the classroom and online. My focus has been solely on preparing students for the difficult IELTS exam. I’ve worked with students of all levels from all over the world, and I understand exactly what it takes to help you achieve your goals.

About the lesson

All of my lessons are tailored to the specific needs of my students. Each of our sessions will be focused on your weaknesses.

For writing, I will provide you with guiding structures that have been proven to help thousands of students achieve band 7 and above. For each writing lesson, we will cover a specific structure for either Task 1 or Task 2 and at the end of the lesson you will be given a topic to write for homework. In the following lesson, I will provide you with detailed feedback as well as band scores for each of the 4 grading criteria.

For speaking, many of our sessions will include mock speaking exams. These will help you become familiar with how the speaking test is structured. For each mock exam, I will give you detailed feedback based on the 4 grading criteria as well as band scores. I will also provide you with structures to follow for each part of the exam as well as exercises to help you improve your grammar and vocabulary.
