About Richard
I have been playing guitar for more than 25 years. I started wanting to play Bon Jovi songs, but then Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe' came out and I was hooked on Britpop.
I learned how to figure out songs by ear, since my paper-round wouldn't cover music books as well as CD singles!
I've been touring in bands since I was 19 years old, and have been lucky enough to record in some of the UK's most prestigious studios as a session guitarist and composer.
I work in my own studio and practice space in Belper, Derbyshire, where I write, record and teach.

Music lessons for any age and ability, taught in a style that suits you. Everyone learns differently, and has different aims. We’ll work your way, at your pace, with your favourite songs.
I find working towards a favourite song to be great motivation to understand and master the basics of the guitar.
I can teach the RSL syllabus when students want to work towards qualifications, but I am also happy to instinctively follow what a student enjoys to practice.
My teaching values: encouragement, open-mindedness, no judgement, empathy, inclusion, kindness, fun.
Duration: Lessons can be 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Age: Best for 12+ years of age, but I do teach some 7+ students.
Level: from complete beginner to experienced intermediates who are looking to hone skills or work on new techniques/styles.
