About Ben
I first started out in my acting career 25 years ago and joined British Actors Equity (the union for actors) after performing professionally in childrens theatre. I am listed on Spotlight (the UK’s film and theatre industry website for professional actors).
I started out performing in children’s touring theatre (UK wide) and London fringe theatres (like the King’s Head Islington and Jackson’s Lane Art Centre). I also worked in corporate role play, re-enacting challenging situations for employees. I also worked for some years as an historic building surveyor. This gave me a real-world perspective which I brought back into to my acting work when I returned to it in 2018. I also have firearms training for TV and film, as well as sword/unarmed combat training (from the BADC). I now live with my partner in Burry Port, South Wales (near Swansea). I most recently performed at the Swansea Grand in 2020 (part of a wider UK national theatre tour) as Manuel in Fawlty Towers Live and locally at the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli.
On screen, I was credited as the Officer on BBC’s His Dark Materials (series 3, episode 3) in a scene opposite Lord Asriel (played by James McAvoy). My CV and showreel can be viewed on my Spotlight page (link at the bottom of this page).
I am a believer in getting experience from many different places, and as such I have completed and continue to attend training courses at top acting schools such as RADA (improvisation 2016), Bristol Old Vic (contemporary drama 2021), Actors Guild (voice and casting workshops), as well as internationally (Alliance Theatre professional workshops in Atlanta USA) and Sacred Clowning with Didier Danthois (renown French clown teacher!)

I offer coaching to aspiring, amateur and working actors. I offer support and advise to those who already have some experience and a desire to become a better actor. I take a warm and friendly but direct approach to acting. I believe in being spontaneous and bringing one’s own personality into a piece, for a truly authentic performance. This requires being open to explore your own feelings and be willing to tap into them - a journey of discovery which I can help with. It will be an interactive experience from the start, delving into your emotions and encouraging you to truly feel your performances.
I have attended hundreds of workshops and acting classes as an actor, from improv (at RADA) to Shakespeare (with Owen Horsley from the RSC), and have a good understanding what it takes to make a lesson fun and informative. Everyone is different and will respond differently to styles of learning, so I like to spend the first (free) session getting to know you and give you the chance to ask questions about the process. Either online or in-person sessions. I hold a current DBS certificate (No. 0(concealed information)2 dated 13 July 2022). Happy to have an informal chat beforehand or an initial free lesson to see if I can help!
