About Xiu Fang

I'm a teacher. I have been giving private and group lessons since 2002. I have a degree in Education and Philosophy, also a certificate in NLP and Public Speaking. I teach Chinese at the University of Adelaide and Vocational Language Learning Center. I am also a volunteer English Tutor at Talk To Aussie-University of Adelaide and TAFE SA.

About the lesson

I am an organized and passionate individual, motivated to teach and share my own extensive knowledge and experience with others. I have a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Philosophy, also a Certificate II of NLP and Public Speaking. As a professional teacher, I offer an engaging learning experience, a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, also able to offer online teaching by using Skype or Zoom in the current situation. I believe a good teacher should understand and know the student's needs and level, to be able to apply different teaching methods. My teaching is structured with a focus more on speaking and listening practice by using class time effectively, and practice writing and reading more as homework. I encourage my students to use WeChat to learn the Chinese language and culture. I often use a pattern to increase memory and vocabulary building. My goal is to help my students achieve their best in Chinese language learning.

I can highly recommend Xiu Fang as she has been my Chinese tutor for just over a year. She understands her students needs and adjust her teaching to their style and level of comprehension. She has helped me with my reading and comprehension of Chinese characters which has allowed me to start reading simple Chinese books, something I didn’t think I would have been able to do a year ago. If you are looking to start or improve you Chinese you will enjoy learning with Xiu Fang.

I am writing to recommend Xiu Fang. I have worked together with her for over ten years and can confidently vouch for her abilities as a competent and professional Chinese teacher. Her lessons are structured, whilst still being interactive enough to broaden the students’ knowledge about Chinese language and culture.

Xiu has a number of strengths I’d like to share. Not only is she patient and friendly, she teaches in a way which encourages learning through fun and positivity. Xiu also adjusts her lessons to the students’ needs and supports with learning materials. Overall, Xiu is a fantastic tutor and I strongly recommend her to anyone learning Chinese.
