About Vito

Once I began my university career, I understood that during my high school years, Physics had not been presented to me as what it really is.

I started tutoring with the intention of showing younger people that Physics is not a set of boring notions and incomprehensible formulas but, if approached with the right method, an incredibly fascinating and stimulating world that they can study with joy.

I am an Aerospace and Aeronautical engineer graduated from the Politecnico di Milano. I started my working career in 2021 as a research and development engineer in Switzerland, in a company involved in the energy and transport sectors, where I still work today. I then lived and worked for the same company for a year and a half in Spain and returned to Switzerland in January 2024. I will move to Sweden for a year in April 2024.

I am passionate about science, agriculture and classical music.

The typical lesson takes place in 3 phases:

1. Understanding the theory:

Unfortunately, the theory is always seen as the boring part that everyone would like to avoid, to which the right time and attention is often not dedicated.
In 99% of the cases it is what leads to having difficulty solving exercises: you read the text and don't know where to start, or you desperately try to remember a similar exercise done previously, trying to apply the same procedure mnemonically, without awareness.
We often start from the exercises, completely neglecting the theory. But it is the theory that provides tools and knowledge to solve problems.

An old professor of mine used to say:
"Learn to do the exercises and if I change a comma you're fried; understand and interiorize the theory and one exercise will be as good as another one".

In this first part, therefore, we will discuss the theoretical aspects together, extracting and understanding the essentials in order to fully master the topic.
It will be a real chat, in which your task will be to expose any and all doubts to me, mine will be to clarify them and help you understand the formulas involved in the topic.
There are no stupid questions!


2. Exercises:

The exercises are proof that the topic has actually been understood and mastered.
The mistake most made, however, is to do as many exercises as possible, perhaps doing them hundreds of times trying to remember them by heart.
But, as the professor said, if one comma changes during the test we're screwed.
Unfortunately yes, physics is not poetry!

In the second part, therefore, we will identify a few exercises that will allow us to completely cover the topics and we will learn how to tackle them methodically and consciously.
Few but good!


3. Applications:

In the last part of the lesson, when the level of attention is at a minimum, I usually illustrate some real applications relating to the topics covered.
This is an approach I inherited from engineering studies: the best way to remember a topic or formula is to remember an application.
In short, the so-called practical aspect!

I usually keep this last part for students who explicitly ask for it, showing interest, extending the lesson by 5/10 minutes completely free of charge. This too will be a real chat. If it is not of interest, no problem, the first 2 points are a sufficient condition to achieve excellent results.


Note 1: the teachings are aimed at all high school students who are in difficulty or who want to learn more. The lessons will be adapted based on the level of preparation.

Note 2: If you live abroad, the only form of lesson available is via webcam.
