Hugo has a talent for working well with others and always being well prepared. We worked together as Math Supplemental Instructors. He works well with students in both the one-on-one and group setting. I have to say his talent in mathematics really shows when he helps his students understand the material. He truly is remarkable educator.

I first met Mr. Hugo Duran in the summer of 2015, when we both began our work as Peer Mentors for the Encounter To Excellence Program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Hugo mentored and guided 40-50 college freshmen throughout their first year of college successfully. He showed up to work early, everyday, with a genuine smile on his face. Hugo is trustworthy, loyal, kind, and full of energy. I was always happy to work alongside him. We have also completed a total of three research projects together and presented our work on all three at Student Research Day at CSUDH. The topics of the research projects were about ending homelessness, climate change, and cancer in the 21st century. After our contract with Encounter To Excellence ended, Hugo went on to become a Math Supplemental Instructor and tutored college students for their math courses all year round. Hugo and I have stayed in touch since the summer of 2015. He keeps me updated on the work he does every semester and year, and I am aware that he is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at California State University, Long Beach. Hugo is one of the most hard working, friendly, and committed persons I know. I do not ever hesitate in recommending him to mentor, tutor, and support others towards success.
