About Cody

I am a dedicated and passionate English language educator. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed and thrive in the English language. My goal as an educator is to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated and empowered to explore the world of English language and literature.

About the lesson

I practice a comprehensive traditional approach to English learning.

My lessons are available for any student K-12, but also available to those who speak or know very little English, or are familiar with some English but require improvement.

Course Plan:

-Kindergarten:

Introduction to basic vocabulary and phonics
Developing listening and speaking skills through interactive activities and games
Introduction to reading readiness through letter recognition, simple words, and picture books
Basic sentence formation and storytelling through pictures

-Grades 1-3 (Elementary School):

Building vocabulary and understanding of sentence structure
Reading comprehension and fluency development
Introduction to grammar (parts of speech, basic sentence structure)
Introduction to creative writing (simple stories, descriptive paragraphs)
Oral communication skills through group discussions and presentations
Introduction to basic spelling and phonics rules

-Grades 4-6 (Intermediate School):

Expanding vocabulary and developing advanced reading skills
Comprehension strategies (main idea, inference, summarization)
Grammar and sentence structure (tenses, subject-verb agreement, punctuation)
Narrative, persuasive, and expository writing
Literature appreciation and analysis
Developing research skills (using reference materials, note-taking)
Public speaking and presentation skills

-Grades 7-9 (Middle School):

Advanced reading comprehension and critical thinking skills
Literary analysis and interpretation
Advanced grammar and syntax
Academic writing (essays, research papers, reports)
Expanding vocabulary and understanding idioms, figures of speech
Independent reading and book discussions
Debating and argumentation skills
Media literacy and analyzing media texts

-Grades 10-12 (High School):

Advanced literature study (classical, contemporary, and diverse authors)
Advanced writing skills (persuasive essays, literary analysis, research papers)
Vocabulary expansion and understanding advanced literary terms
Critical thinking and analytical skills development
SAT/ACT preparation (if applicable)
Creative writing and poetry
Independent reading and book clubs
Preparation for college-level English courses
