About Birdie
Music education provides a wide canvas for exploration. I draw on 3 years of experience teaching scales and modes, acoustic technique, improvisation, soloing, reading tabs, ear training, power chords, tuning, maintenance, grade exam prep, music theory, and rhythm guitar. My degree from Los Angeles College of Music informs how I break down complex concepts.
Watching someone finally catch an idea they have been circling for weeks is what keeps me teaching. I show my thinking out loud, including the dead ends, because I am a neurodivergent-affirming teacher who focuses on visual, kinesthetic, and ear-based methods. Success for me happens when you solve something I never showed you, and I find that pretty cool.

Since we are starting, you should know that I keep things very hands on and playful. You get a monthly recorded review of progress which is a differentiator worth 8.0 points for tracking your growth over time.
I focus on keeping things simple so you can actually play the music you enjoy. My 3 years of teaching experience allow me to stay patient while we work through physical hurdles on the fretboard. We will focus on how your brain learns best rather than forcing a rigid structure that might not stick. I enjoy seeing students find their own voice through the strings, and I try to make sure we have a good time throughout the process.
