LITERARY BIO - ADAM ROCKE SLUTSKY
An adrenaline junkie with a widely varied skill-set—including expertise with all manner of firearms and weaponry—Adam took participatory journalism to the next level, penning hundreds of high-octane feature articles for many of the hippest men’s lifestyle publications, including Maxim, Stuff and Razor.
Factor in a secondary degree in Cryptozoology from the University of Haiti in Port-au-Prince—perfect for Bigfoot safaris and Chupacabra expeditions—and Adam has pretty much covered it all.
Prior to slinging words, Adam slung cocktails in bars on both coasts and his mixology adventures yielded six published titles from Surrey Books/Agate Publishing—Cocktails for the 21st Century, Tiki Drinks, Shag Party, Around the World in 80 Drinks, The Pink Panther Cocktail Party and The Pink Panther Entertains; five are illustrated by renowned “kitsch culture” artist, Josh Agle (aka Shag).
An experienced poker player, Adam spent five years as a feature columnist for Bluff Magazine before switching to Bluff Europe. His Texas Hold’em tutorial, Pick Up Your Poker Game, is in its second printing.
Adam’s new poker book, Cracked Aces: The Wildest, Craziest, Most Unbelievable TRUE Poker Stories, published by Motivational Press, recounts some of his favorite poker adventures, both on and off the felt.
Adam’s graphic novel, Ayre Force—a special project for Calvin Ayre and his multimedia conglomerate, Bodog—co-written with Joseph Philip Illidge and illustrated by Shawn Martinbrough, was a hit at the 2008 New York Comic-Con.
A die-hard gearhead, Nothing Runs, published by Veloce Press UK, chronicles Adam’s hilarious misadventures in the classic and exotic car biz.
The Pirate Handbook: A Rogue’s Guide to Pillage, Plunder, Chaos & Conquest, was ghostwritten by Adam for TV personality, former Philadelphia 76ers owner, and pirate expert extraordinaire Pat Croce, and published by Chronicle Books.
When ex-Mexican drug cartel smuggler Chris Heifner wanted to write his true-crime memoirs, he hired Adam. The result is Mule: My Dangerous Life as a Drug Smuggler Turned DEA Informant, published by Lyons Press/Globe Pequot.
My Brother’s Keeper: Above & Beyond “The Dotted Line” With The NFL’s Most Ethical Agent, authored by Eugene Lee, the NFL agent at the center of Morgan Spurlock’s acclaimed ESPN documentary, The Dotted Line, was ghosted by Adam and published by Vesuvian Books.
A Guide to Improvised Weaponry: How To Protect Yourself With WHATEVER You’ve Got, co-written with Green Beret Master Sergeant Terry Schappert, star of Discovery’s “Dude, You’re Screwed,” was published by Adams Media.
Plunder, an exciting new Young Adult action/adventure novel set during the Golden Age of Piracy, was co-written with Pat Croce, renowned pirate expert and owner of the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum, and published by Turner Publishing.
Rex, the Middle Grade action/adventure co-authored by Adam with Mark Rogers and Cody B. Stewart, based on Adam’s original screenplay, was published by Common Deer Press, and is currently in to all the major studios for a TV/feature film rights play.
On the Hollywood front…
Adam was hired by Steven Seagal and Steamroller Productions to write They Are Here, an action/thriller screenplay set in the realm of phenomenology and Remote Viewing, based on Seagal’s own experiences.
Hunter’s Moon, an original screenplay based on Adam’s Maxim Magazine cover feature article, “The Death Dealer,” about hunting poachers in Africa, was recently optioned by Lane Shefter Bishop and Todd Garner (Broken Road Productions).
The Legend of Mad Dog, a docu-reality show Adam created based on the wild daily adventures of former CIA spycraft engineer Kevin “Mad Dog” McClung, was recently set up at Rogue Atlas/Lionsgate.
Finally, the pilot script and series bible for a scripted episodic series based on the nonfiction book, Dark Genius: The Authorized Biography of CIA Spycraft Wunderkind Kevin “Mad Dog” McClung, will be making the Hollywood rounds as soon as the book deal is inked.
