About Julianna

I am a graduate of UC Berkeley where I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies, a research major. I studied a variety of subjects spanning from environmental science to statistics to write an academic research paper on drinking water contamination.

I graduated high school with a 4.2 and Berkeley with a 3.4.

I currently am applying to PhD programs to study Political Science and English.

In my free time I enjoy making music and drawing.

As necessary, I approach teaching and tutoring based on age group. For my younger students (age 10 and under) I use exploration-driven research methods and role play. For example, teaching earth science by outdoor walk bingo or learning to read from books of their own choosing.

For older students and homework-based help, I found breaking down assignments into manageable and sequential steps with rewards along the way yields the most benefit. I encourage students to give it their best attempt on their own, and remain available for any questions in order to build confidence in their capability to do things on their own.
