About Mahnoor

I was at King’s College London and during my final year I was event’s organiser for KCL Afghan welfare Society and Sports lead for KCL ISOC welfare society. These roles have vastly improved my organisation skills and increase my ability to work in a time efficient manner. During my times as a sales assistant, I gained the ability to not only work independently but, in a team, working collaboratively with other individuals, under pressure and time constrains. Furthermore, being a tutor and working with a wide range of people has equipped me relationship building, communication and leadership skills. My skills allow me to work in a team or independently, efficiently and I am always enthusiastic to learn and implement new strategies and skills to work in a different environment. I am a kind, reliable and a punctual individual and would like to further develop my social skills and work ethic.

Previously, I have been the team captain of netball and my current position as the sports lead has increased my leadership skills my fitness. I have lead weekly sports sessions entailing football, cricket and netball. I also enjoy playing challenging games such as Sudoku and chess.

About the lesson

From my experience as a tutor, I have learned that every student has different needs when it comes to learning, retaining and applying information. As a result of this, I have developed a skill set which has allowed me to tailor my methods of teaching to suit the needs of the student. I emphasise the importance of independent study and make sure to integrate this within my lessons. Many of these methods include pre-reading before the lesson and researching the subject prior to lessons, as well as applying subject knowledge to exam style questions.
I approach each topic by studying it before hand and creating a plan for my students over the next few lessons for them to be aware of what I will be teaching. In addition, I set homework such as reading the topic before I teach and exam styled questions for practice. I believe students need to read the topic before I teach so they have an idea of what the lesson will be teaching but it also saves time for them if they understand the topic. I won't need to teach them a topic they are aware of thus we can focus on how to answer exam styled questions.

For GCSE students I charge £30 p/hour and for A-level students I charge £35 p/hour. I also teach Math GCSE, and A-level and Chemistry GCSE and A-level and Physics GCSE
